The claim

According to an alleged Air Force incident form dated 18 January 1978, a New Jersey police officer shot at a small creature near Fort Dix, which then fled onto McGuire Air Force Base, where it died and its body was recovered by a special team. The story was promoted by retired Air Force Maj. George Filer, who said he was on duty that night. Morse's name appears as a witness in versions of the story. Researchers have found no confirming records, and many consider the form a hoax.
