Steven Schiff (1947–1998) was a U.S. Representative from New Mexico from 1989 until his death.
The Roswell inquiry

In 1993, after the Defense Department gave him what he felt were unhelpful answers about the 1947 Roswell incident, Schiff asked the General Accounting Office (GAO) to search for records. The GAO's July 1995 report found that some Roswell Army Air Field records from 1946 to 1949 had been destroyed without proper authority. Schiff said the records' destruction was puzzling. His request also prompted the Air Force's 1994 Project Mogul report.
