Day was the radar supervisor who tracked unknown objects descending from high altitude to near sea level over several days in November 2004, leading to the Fravor–Dietrich intercept. He said the objects dropped tens of thousands of feet in seconds. He has said that after the encounter, men came aboard and collected data recordings.
