Description
Time: August 12, 1954
Location: Rural outskirts of Hutchinson, Kansas
Recovered by: The U.S. Department of Aerial Phenomena (Internal Archive)
The Discovery
The reel was discovered in 1998 during the demolition of an abandoned farmhouse. It was tucked inside a rusted lead-lined canister labeled simply: "Daylight Observations – Do Not Project." The property originally belonged to Arthur 'Artie' Miller, a local hobbyist and former signal corps photographer. Among the debris, investigators also found a 16mm Bell & Howell camera that had been meticulously stripped of its serial numbers and internal manufacturer stamps.
