Description

Last Wednesday night, my partner and I witnessed several objects that seemed to fly and “swim” through the night sky. We were leaving the emergency vet around 9:30pm, we are located around Kansas City. It started with 9ish red blinking lights in a formation that hung in the sky before all of them started darting around and almost playing peekaboo. The red lights quickly disappeared as I got out of the vehicle to use my camera, which as I was doing this a warbling luminescent object shot straight up and over our car. It was originally stagnant and near the vicinity of the red lights. What my camera captured is the details of what we couldn’t see, given these objects were fairly far away until they weren’t. If this gets any attention (I don’t want to embarrass myself if I’m just seeing shit), I’ll post the zoomed in video. These photos are cropped as well, the rest are on my desktop. The only alteration to the photos is exposure/highlights in order to bring out or provide more detail. My shutter speed is around 1/40th, ISO 3000, f 2.8 on a 50mm lens. The motion blur is something I’m aware of, but that is why some of the images have their highlights dampened to see the object.

Time: 9:30-10pm, 01/08/2025

Location: just outside Kansas City
