Howard Cross's own sighting — A researcher finds a Blue Book file showing a Battelle scientist reported his own sighting.
According to Jacques Vallée's journals, in December 2001 NIDS researcher Colm Kelleher told him he had found a Project Blue Book file in which Howard Cross, a scientist at the Battelle Memorial Institute, reported his own UFO sighting in October 1951.
Cross is the scientist who, on 9 January 1953, wrote the "Pentacle memo", recommending that Battelle's analysis be completed before the Robertson Panel drew conclusions and proposing controlled observation experiments. Vallée had published and named the memo.
Finding that Cross had seen something himself added a personal dimension to the memo. It's an example of how archival work in Blue Book's records continues to reveal new details.
