Videos of the effect attracted the attention of researchers interested in anti-gravity, and in 1983 an Army intelligence group reportedly studied it. Later attempts, including some filmed for television, failed to reproduce the effects under controlled conditions. Skeptics argue the videos were staged or misinterpreted. Hutchison has continued to promote his claims.
