Anti-gravity is the idea of cancelling or controlling gravity, so that a craft could lift and move without wings or rockets. It has never been demonstrated, and mainstream physics, based on Einstein's general relativity, offers no known way to achieve it.

In the mid-1950s, aircraft companies including Glenn L. Martin, Convair and Bell funded gravity research, reported in the 1955 Herald Tribune series "Conquest of Gravity". Inventor Thomas Townsend Brown claimed charged capacitors produced a gravity-related thrust, later explained as ion wind. In the 1990s and 2000s, claims by Eugene Podkletnov about spinning superconductors attracted interest from NASA and Boeing, but couldn't be reproduced.

Because UFOs are often described as moving without visible propulsion, researchers have long suspected anti-gravity. Nick Cook's The Hunt for Zero Point argues that research went classified. No such technology has been publicly confirmed.
