According to Jacques Vallée's journals, on 23 October 1988 CIA physician Kit Green met Vallée at Detroit airport and assured him that MJ-12 existed, but said it concerned impacts and psychological warfare, not UFOs.[1]
Background

The MJ-12 papers, presented as a 1952 briefing for President-elect Eisenhower about a secret committee handling crashed saucers, were first circulated among UFO researchers in 1984. The FBI later declared them completely bogus.[2] Green had worked at the CIA from 1969 to 1985 before moving to General Motors.[1]
Other entries

Vallée's journals record several other Green comments in this period. In December 1988 Green said he had found, through Dr. Richard Neal, a doctor allegedly involved in an alien autopsy. In January 1989 he received anonymous copies of Air Force Office of Special Investigations reports of near-landings and took them to CIA specialists. In April 1989 he had indirect contact with Richard Doty, and in May 1989 he confirmed that William Moore and Doty had tried to sell an MJ-12 novel in England some years earlier. In December 1989 he said he had confirmation "from the inside" of an alien presence, but did not necessarily believe it.[1]
Correction

Earlier summaries said Green told Vallée MJ-12 was real in the sense of a UFO control group. As quoted by Basterfield, the entry says the opposite: that whatever MJ-12 was, it was not about UFOs.[1]
Assessment
Green has not publicly discussed the conversation, and the entry cannot be checked beyond Vallée's journal.[1]
