Robert Sarbacher (1907–1986) was an American physicist and engineer who served as a consultant to the U.S. Defense Research and Development Board. In 1950 Canadian engineer Wilbert Smith wrote notes of a conversation in which Sarbacher said UFOs were real, highly classified and studied by a small group including Vannevar Bush.
Letter

In 1983 Sarbacher wrote to researcher William Steinman saying he had heard reports of crashed saucers being studied at Wright-Patterson, but that he did not attend the meetings. His statements are often cited as early evidence of crash retrieval.
