On 14 October 2022 journalist Christopher Sharp of the website Liberation Times reported that new public congressional hearings on UAP were expected once the 2023 defence authorization bill became law, and that whistleblowers had been contacted to testify.[1]
The report

Citing anonymous sources, Sharp wrote that the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal 2023 would include intelligence-bill language giving whistleblower protections to people coming forward about UAP, and that information about alleged retrieval and reverse-engineering programs had been verified by Congress. He suggested hearings might come before Christmas 2022. The article quoted filmmaker Jeremy Corbell, who said "the Silver Bullet is coming", and reporter George Knapp, who said some people were willing to come forward if protected.[1]
What followed

The 2023 defence bill, signed in December 2022, included protections for people reporting UAP information to Congress. The hearings came later than Sharp's sources suggested: on 26 July 2023 a House Oversight subcommittee heard from former intelligence officer David Grusch and former Navy pilots David Fravor and Ryan Graves. Grusch testified that the United States had a decades-long program to retrieve and reverse-engineer non-human craft, but said he could give details only in a classified setting, and provided no public evidence.[2][3]
Liberation Times

Sharp, who founded Liberation Times and also writes for the Daily Mail, has continued to report on UAP and congressional efforts, including interviews with Rep. Anna Paulina Luna after the 2023 hearing.[4]
