Pandolfi's "another world" story is a claim published by the Canadian ufologist Grant Cameron. He says CIA officer Ron Pandolfi told the researcher Dan Smith that an entrance to "another world" was about to open in "a desert", and that people would go in and come back. The anonymous UAP timeline in Michael Shellenberger's 2024 congressional testimony lists the claim under 20 October 2022, citing Cameron's book UFO Sky Pilots: Pilots of Peace and Oneness, published that day.[3][2] The story rests on Cameron's account of what Smith was told, and the sources read here contain no confirmation from Pandolfi.

The claim

  • The timeline's summary reads: Cameron "claims CIA officer Ron Pandolfi told Dan Smith about an entrance to 'another world' that was about to open in 'a desert'. Pandolfi claims people will enter and return."[3] The summary does not give the date of the conversation or name the desert.
  • The book was not read for this article, so the account here relies on the timeline's summary.
  • The earlier version of this article described Smith as a researcher with connections in Washington who had pursued UFO disclosure in the 1990s. That is not covered in the sources read here.

UFO Sky Pilots

  • UFO Sky Pilots: Pilots of Peace and Oneness was published on 20 October 2022 by Itsallconnected Publishing. The Kindle edition runs to 185 pages.[2] Cameron's other books include Managing Magic: The Government's UFO Disclosure Plan and Contact Modalities.[2]
  • According to the timeline, the book collects accounts from people who say they piloted a UFO, many of them never before public. They include a United Airlines captain who described recurring dreams of controlling a craft with his mind; a retired Air Force F-16 pilot, "Col. David", who said he was told he already knew how to fly a craft and began flying it mentally; and a former Nellis AFB radar operator who described a "neural interface" in a chair inside a saucer.[3]
  • The timeline lists other claims from the same book on the same date. Cameron says Pandolfi told him that a "jump room" existed at the old Hughes Aircraft building in El Segundo, California, and that a friend of Pandolfi told him to "hang on" before making it public. He also reports Kit Green telling the Rendlesham witness Jim Penniston that he was working for Bigelow Aerospace to understand how the technology "enables dimensional travel".[3]

Pandolfi

  • The earlier version of this article described Pandolfi as a CIA scientist known for his interest in unconventional topics, who appears in several UFO stories. The timeline records several such appearances:
    • Maccabee's own book, as summarised on the research blog UFOs – scientific research, describes Pandolfi as "a scientist and intelligence analyst in the Scientific Intelligence branch of the CIA". Pandolfi first called Maccabee in August 1984 to ask about his laser-generated underwater sound work, which began "a more than fifteen year association". In February 1987 Pandolfi arranged a meeting with the FAA's John Callahan about the Japan Air Lines Alaska sighting, after which Maccabee was given a box of radar printouts and transcripts.[8]
    • Pandolfi invited Maccabee to speak about UFOs at CIA headquarters. He did so on 7 July 1987 to about two dozen people, and he later felt the lecture had created "spies" who used their clearances to look for UFO information.[8] The timeline says Kit Green was in the audience.[4] Pandolfi later told Maccabee that a CIA archivist had searched for MJ-12 in the agency's files and not found it. In March 1994 he admitted there might be a liaison "mole" in the CIA working with a UFO group in another agency, but said he was "not aware of any group in the CIA".[8]
    • White House Office of Science and Technology Policy documents record a discussion on 15 April 1993 between Pandolfi and C.B. Scott Jones about the CIA asking Maccabee to prepare a briefing for the White House science adviser.[5]
    • Pandolfi was listed as the responsible official on the MITRE contract for the JASON group's review of high-frequency gravitational-wave research, a topic that had also come up in the Pentagon's AAWSAP study.[6]
    • On 26 February 2019 the Fox TV producer Robert Kiviat sued Joe Firmage, Pandolfi and former Representative David Marriott over the venture InterNASA. Kiviat alleged that Pandolfi had tried to sabotage the company and that the CIA was running a "flytrap" disinformation scheme to shape public views of UAP.[7] The outcome of the suit is not covered in the sources read here.

Assessment

  • The story is at least second-hand. It is Cameron's account of what Pandolfi allegedly told Smith, and the sources read here contain no statement from Pandolfi.[3]
  • It belongs to a wider body of hints and rumours from the 1990s and 2000s, attributed to intelligence insiders and passed on by researchers, which cannot be checked.
  • The earlier version of this article cited Cameron's research site presidentialufo.com. That domain no longer carries his research.[1]
