Disclosure, in UFO discussions, means an official admission by a government that UFOs are real and, in most people's hopes, that some are of non-human origin. It also refers more broadly to the release of secret government records on the subject.
Campaigns

Calls for disclosure date back to Donald Keyhoe and NICAP in the 1950s. Steven Greer's Disclosure Project (from 1993) gathered military witnesses, and Laurance Rockefeller lobbied the Clinton White House in the 1990s. Since 2017, the push has moved into Congress, with laws requiring UAP reports, the creation of AARO, and the proposed UAP Disclosure Act of 2023.
Views
Supporters argue the public has a right to know. Skeptics say there is no secret to disclose. Some researchers prefer gradual "acknowledgement", warning that a sudden announcement could be destabilising.
