Imminent: Inside the Pentagon's Hunt for UFOs is a 2024 memoir by Luis Elizondo, a former Pentagon intelligence official who says he ran the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP). Published by William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins, on 20 August 2024, it became a number-one New York Times bestseller.[1][2]
Content

Elizondo describes his time at the Pentagon and his account of AATIP, which he says investigated UFO encounters by military personnel, and argues that the U.S. government has kept what it knows about UAP from the public. He also describes his resignation in 2017 and his part in bringing Navy UFO videos to public attention through To The Stars Academy.[1][3]
Reception

The book sold strongly and drew wide media attention, helped by Elizondo's appearances in the documentary The Age of Disclosure and at a November 2024 congressional hearing, where he testified alongside Tim Gallaudet and Michael Shellenberger. Skeptics noted that its central claims rely on Elizondo's own testimony, and the Pentagon has disputed his description of his role in AATIP. Shortly before publication, Boing Boing reported that Amazon had sold fake "leaked" copies of the book.[3][4][5]
