Robert Kiviat is an American television producer who was executive producer of Alien Autopsy: Fact or Fiction?, the 1995 Fox special that presented supposed film of an alien autopsy from the Roswell era. The film was later admitted to be a staged recreation.[1][2]
The 1995 special

British businessman Ray Santilli released black-and-white footage in 1995 that he claimed showed an autopsy on an alien body recovered after the 1947 Roswell incident. Fox broadcast the film in a special hosted by actor Jonathan Frakes on 28 August 1995, with Kiviat as executive producer; it was repeated twice, each time to higher ratings. Time magazine described the debate it caused as more intense than any home movie since the Zapruder film of President Kennedy's assassination. Kiviat described the program's approach as "like a detective story", while a director he hired for parts of the special later said he had concluded early that the footage was a fake.[1][2][3]
The hoax revealed
In 1998 Fox broadcast The World's Greatest Hoaxes: Secrets Finally Revealed, which debunked the film; Kiviat was reported to have produced this program too. In April 2006 Santilli and fellow producer Gary Shoefield admitted in a Sky television documentary that the footage had been staged in a London flat, with dummies made by sculptor John Humphreys and filled with sheep brains, offal and jam, though Santilli maintained it was based on genuine footage he had seen.[2][3]
