Mark Sokol, founder of the New Jersey company Falcon Space, told The Debrief in June 2021 that he was building a "Warp Drive Detector" and working toward an anti-gravity aircraft.[1]

Sokol, then 33, started his career refurbishing hybrid car batteries, building his own equipment because none existed for the job. He applied the same hands-on approach to unconventional propulsion experiments, criticising theoretical physics for relying on chalkboards rather than experiments.[1]

Sokol said the "Warp Drive Detector" was an idea he developed with fellow experimenter Jeremiah Popp, intended to show whether a warp field was being created by detecting changes in the speed of light near an experiment. He said it was meant to test his own company's experiments, not to detect secret or alien spacecraft.[1]

Sokol is associated with the Alternative Propulsion Engineering Conference, a group of independent experimenters who share tests of unconventional propulsion ideas online. Interest of this kind grew after the 2017 reports about the Pentagon's UAP study.[1]

No experiment of this kind has produced confirmed results, and mainstream physicists do not accept the theories behind it.[1]
