2005 in UFO history — the UAP Timeline records 6 events in 2005, mostly about beings & bodies and crashes & retrievals. People named in these events include Jacques Vallée, Harold Puthoff, Christopher "Kit" Green, Garry Nolan, Richard Doty.
Overview
The best-known UFO story of 2005 was "Project Serpo." On 1 November Victor Martinez, who ran an email list for retired intelligence personnel interested in UFOs, received what was presented as a 3,000-page Defense Intelligence Agency report from the 1970s. It claimed that a live being recovered from a New Mexico crash helped the government contact its home planet, "Serpo," and that 12 trained Americans later travelled there from the Nevada Test Site.[1] An anonymous British official later claimed the document was real but described invented events, written by the CIA in response to Soviet disinformation.[1] The story is among the proposed planetary objects in ufology whose existence is not supported by scientific evidence.[2]
The year's more sober development was medical. CIA physician Christopher "Kit" Green returned to private medicine and began compiling a database of people who reported injuries such as burns, skin lesions, cancer and other illnesses after close encounters with UFOs. His more than 100 patients were military personnel or aerospace workers. He suspected exposure to secret technology such as non-lethal weapons, and said about a quarter of his patients died within five to seven years.[3] See also Garry Nolan and Richard Doty. See Kit Green's injury database.
Other entries record private conversations. On 5 December a former manager of operations at EG&G Special Projects at the Nevada Test Site told Jacques Vallée, Harold Puthoff and Eric Davis of a project called "Senior Soda" that built a ramjet disc.[1] On 6 December Puthoff told Vallée about Arlington Institute workshops at which participants were told that the United States, Russia and China all held recovered "alien hardware."[1] Other claims include the book Raechel's Eyes, about an alleged human–alien hybrid, and Air Force veteran Stephen Walker's account of a secret aircraft at Diego Garcia.[3]
